The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that a 20 year old man has been shot, minutes away from the House of Parliament.

Police were called at approx. 22:40hrs on Wednesday 21 March following reports of gunshots heard outside Blackstone House, Churchill Gardens Road, SW1.

Officers attended and found a 20-year-old man suffering gunshot wounds. He was taken by London Ambulance Service to a central London hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in custody at central London police stations.

The Trident Gang Crime Command is investigating.
