The Metropolitan Police are believed to be launching a murder inquiry into the death of a man who was pushed onto the tracks of a Piccadilly line train at Kings Cross during rush hour on Monday evening.
A woman apparently pushed a man off a platform and into the path of a Tube train at Kings Cross during rush hour on Monday evening. The Piccadilly Line was suspended around 6.40pm after a ‘person under a train’ was reported at the busy central London station. Staff described the incident as a “sure fire fatality” and that a “woman pushed another woman off the platform”. British Transport Police sealed off the platforms as investigators examine the area. Services were suspended between Arnos Grove and Hyde Park Corner all evening, minor delays were occurring on the rest of the line. Metropolitan Police officer Det Supt Ashley Croft said last night: "This was at a busy time during the evening commute. I want anyone who saw what happened on the eastbound Piccadilly line to get in touch".
"I would like to thank passengers for their patience and understanding and all London underground staff who assisted the emergency services in dealing with what happened in a professional and dignified manner."
