A new video released shows a woman protestor at the G20 demonstrators being hit repeatedly by a male PC at the G20 demonstrations outside of the Bank of England on April 1. (View video section)

The officer involved has been suspended according to the Met and an investigation is underway.

The video further damages the Metropolitan Police credibility in the capital following the death of newspaper seller Ian Tomlinson who is alleged to have suffered a fatal heartache after being struck by a Met officer.

An internal video broadcast was shown to all Metropolitan Police staff yesterday of Sir Paul Stephenson outlining his "concerns" at the recent crisis engulfing the Met.  The video was meant to address all MPS staff and underline the "leadership’s commitment to uphold standards".

The resignation of anti-terror Bob Quick, the death of Ian Tomlinson at the G20 demonstrations,  the failure to investigate two of the UK's most prolific sex offenders and the Met's inability to fill only two of the six most senior positions at Scotland Yard, have created a new sense of uncertainty in the Met.

Sir Paul Stephenson in the broadcast to Met staff outlined how he visited a 30 years old CO19 officer who was seriously hurt following a chase of armed robbers in east London.  The officer who is yet unnamed is believed to be a serious but "stable" condition in hospital.

The FT today has today published the revelations that two German journalists of the Spiegel newspaper managed to “infiltrate” the G20 summit restricted areas and entered into the "listening room" which was allocated for delegations of the heads of state, allowing them to record the discussions between leaders.

The London Daily News can confirm that its representative at the G20 was also given access to the "listening room" with a standard pass, but security would not allow any recording of the discussions of the leaders.
