A woman who stabbed her uncle 111 times after years of abuse is facing jail today. Maria Calero, 21, was sent live with her uncle, Eduardo Mendoza, 39, when she was 13. Last year in June she apparently snapped and filmed herself stabbing Mendoza to death with a knife and a pair of scissors at his home in Hammersmith. She recorded attack
Peruvian born Calero recorded the 20 minute onslaught on a mobile phone whilst a Chemical Brothers song played over the screaming. Jurors herd Mendoza howling and dying in agony. Prosecutor Nicholas Hilliard QC, told the Old Bailey jury the recording was very distressing. "You will hear someone being murdered," he said. Calero could be heard saying: "He raped me, he raped me" as Mr Mendoza took his final breaths. Admitts manslaughter
Originally charged with murder, Calero changed her plea half way through her trial - admitting manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. She will be sentenced on July 21. She made allegation of abuse two years after moving in but she told the police nothing happened, they could not pursue the matter. Father set up mobile
Her blind father, Ricardo, 48, and brother, Richard, 20, from Fulham, where also implicated and collapsed in tears after being cleared of alternative charges of murder and manslaughter on Monday.
The father confessed to the jury he set up the mobile to record a confession from him.
