Human train crash Amy Winehouse has the lung disease emphysema - according to her father.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror he said it caused was from smoking crack. Emphysema is a progressive lung condition which leaves sufferers struggling to breathe.
Early stages - irregular heartbeat
It had been rumoured last week that she had tuberculosis. According to her dad, the breathing disease has been caught early. Mitch Winehouse described the "vivid picture of her sitting there like an old person with a mask on her face struggling to breathe." Apparently doctors have told the troubled singer that if she keeps smoking crack it won't just ruin her voice, it will kill her. Continuing he said: "With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She's got 70% lung capacity." Festival dates binned?
The Rehab star's spokespeople have said "it sounds right." It now looks highly unlikely she will appear at Glastonbury on 26th June. Another high profile performance at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday show the next day in Hyde Park is also in serious doubt. Last year she cancelled several festival appearances citing health reasons. Mitch called on her drug dealers to 'stay away' and slammed celebrity friends such as Pete Doherty, saying: "What hope does she have if people are taking drugs around her?"
