One of the longest and most drawn out campaigns in memory, was officially launched this week, despite months of "phoney" campaigning by all the main political parties; is in danger of totally losing an already apathetic electorate, with gimmicks and stunts that inspire no one. Its time we all looked at the state of politics in the capital; over run by obsessive, political hacks, and no room for "normal" people to be emancipated in the political system.
Instead we will all now endure 4 weeks of canvassing, "debates", and political advertising that aims to take the eyes out from the other side. Enough already!
What we want, especially in London, is some type of identity, a creed, a recipe of sorts from one of these politicians of how we go about dealing with the social and moral decay that has seen daily murders, daily child abuse, daily attacks on our way of life, by groups that have no place in our city.
London needs a new politics, people that are not afraid of what their "political bosses" will say, but a dialogue of truth on what we need to do. We cannot say everything Labour have done is bad, but at the same time the hypocritical left wing, must accept that it is because of this "liberal" attitude from anything to do with alcohol, drugs and family values that we are seeing a systemic destruction of our traditions, customs that have been with this country for centuries.
Its time now time that Londoners started demanding more from their MPs, MEPs, local councillors and Assembly Members, and asking them what are they doing for the city or town, ward they represent. We need to be engaged in politics, but we need politicians who will inspire interest. It is therefore a positive move that the Conservatives are actively promoting ethnic and minority candidates in London, as opposed to Labour who give a lot of "lip service", but have failed to promote candidates in areas of strong ethnic diversity, instead import candidates from the Highlands of Scotland.
Moreover this election, if it is in fact close, as many are predicting, including The London Daily News, will mean for the first time around 100 constituencies in the country will play a major role, and will mean every vote counts. Londoners must vote, and they must hold to account incumbent or prospective politicians and ask them the $64 million question, "What are you going to do for me if you are elected?"
