An emergency debate in the House of Commons has taken place to allow Members of Parliament to air their concerns that they have been prevented to enter the Parliament by the thousands of Tamil protestors who have taken over Westminster.

The Metropolitan Police according to sources contacted by the London Daily News are not prepared to "physically remove" protestors from the areas around Parliament "in case television crews film and then the protestors prosecute the police".

The Speaker of the House of Commons condemned the Tamil protestors in the debate for "using children to prevent the police doing their job".

Tamil protestors have been protesting at the continual killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka in what is being widely described in the international community as "genocide".

Traffic into Parliament Square has been blocked, with major disruption taking place all over Millbank and the Westminster area.
