Retail workers from high street stores - BHS, Hamleys, House of Fraser and John Lewis cycled through the West End on bicycles this week, each wearing an array of brightly-coloured hats to announce their right to celebrate the royal wedding.

In the forethcoming weeks to the royal wedding - retail staff from 10 leading retail businesses will be gathering support for the first ever "West End Wear A Hat To Work Day." An idea put into place by retail staff, to ensure the 20,000 retail workers on duty and working in stores on the 29th April, will celebrate the wedding in their own way.

Jace Tyrrell of New West End Company says: "The West End has a longstanding connection with the Royal family and is home to over 10 retailers with Royal Warrants and dozens of Kate's favourite High Street stores. We weren't surprised that retail staff in the West End wanted to celebrate on the big day, which could see over a million shoppers coming to the West End over the Royal Wedding bank holiday weekend."

Retail workers will be allowed to wear hats suitable for the event itself  and will be sponsored to do so. All proceeds raised will go to Beatbullying
one of the Royal couple's wedding list charities. Retail workers including BHS, Boots, Debenhams, Fenwick, Fortnum & Mason, House of Fraser, Jaeger and John Lewis have all signed up to take part in the West End Wear a Hat to Work Day

reporting Leanne Bennett.
