Visit London the marketing agency for London included an image of child murderer Myra Hindley on some of the images for the presentations at London House in Beijing provoking an avalanche of condemnation.

Mayor Boris Johnson and the Government condemned the Visit London video and issued according to Sky News a “furious condemnation” of the images of the convicted child killer Hindley.

Sources also said the person responsible for the video and the image inclusion should be “sacked”.

City Hall sources said that this "should not have happened and it is deeply disturbing".

Visit London issued a rebuttal claiming the reaction by the government was excessive and the images of Hindley were “fleeting”.

The original image appeared at an exhibition at the Saatchi gallery in the late 1990's which caused a storm.

London Daily News attempted to contact Visit London but no official was available for comment.

In a separate incident a teenager was murdered in Walthamstow east London at the Olympic handover celebrations.
