The northern section of the Jubilee line could be effectively shut after a breakdown in industrial relations. Nearly 100 staff are to strike for 24 hours from 18:59 tomorrow, sparked by what the union calls "aggressive and bullying local management." Rail Maritime and Transport union members at several Jubilee line stations including Dollis Hill, Kilburn, West Hampstead, Finchley Road, Swiss Cottage and St John's Wood stations "voted overwhelmingly for strike action" after London Underground management failed to take complaints seriously, according to the union. Transport for London said it would try to keep stations open and run the "best service possible". A TfL spokeswoman said: "There are procedures in place to deal with these kinds of issues and we ask RMT to stop this unnecessary strike action and return to the negotiating table." "Surge in complaints" General Secretary Bob Crow said "there has been a surge in complaints" in regards to what he calls a "complete disregard of attendance and disciplinary procedures at this station group"
He accused LUL of burying "its head in the sand," "blatant bullying" and illegally threatening new staff with the sack if they strike. Management 'moved on'
The union alleged that the manager involved was moved from another location after "similar complaints nearly led to strikes". Crow added: "We are available for talks to sort this problem out."
