West London football club Queens Park Rangers, are facing an uncertain future with threats on two fronts, an FA ruling on Friday that may deduct 10 points from the club for breaching FA rules on the club registering players owned by a third party, and a potential new "suitor" for control over the club.
QPR won the automatic promotion spot from the Championship to the Premiership and was all set to scoop the £40 million prize in broadcasting income, only to have the celebrations dampened by the news that the club may face censure over "transfer irregularities" of Alejandro Faurlin.
The Football Association has charged QPR with seven charges relating to Alejadro Faurlin being owned by a third party, and QPR still registering the player with the club; providing false information to the FA, and the use of an unauthorised agent and "bringing the game into disrepute".
QPR may face having to win a promotion to the Premiership via the playoffs if 10 points are deducted from the club, or a hefty fine or both.
The other issue that will concern QPR fans is a potential new owner taking full control of the club, the club is currently owned by Bernie Ecclestone who holds 62% shares in the club and the Mittal family who hold 33% in the club. The Financial Times in a report has said that the Italian tycoon Flavio Briatore may be one of the parties looking at taking the club over, having a first option if the club is for sale.
