Commuters are using bus, taxi, cars and bicycles to get into work, with temperatures below zero across London adding to the misery of travel in London.
The RMT have claimed that they will strike again and throughout 2011 until their demands that 800 jobs are saved from the current cuts planned by TfL.
Extra buses were seen at dawn travelling across London to replace the tubes, with TfL claiming that most people are "getting to work" despite the strike.
Current estimates believe that 80-90% of the tube network has been totally shut down. The strike is expected to end at 7pm tonight.
