A recent poll conducted by London's online newspaper thelondondailynews.com has showed LBC 97,3Fm come out on top with 37% with BBC London 94,9FM in second with 25% and Capital Radio with 23 per cent.

The online opinion poll asked "What radio station best serves the capital?".

LBC also leads the poll of the most listened to radio host with Clive Bull polling 35% and Big George Webley of BBC London in second place with 31%.

The company that owns LBC, Galaxy and Heart announced this week 30 job cuts justifying the cuts by saying this was a  "prudent reaction to the current economic climate".

Mediaguardian.co.uk reported that the cuts would be across programming, human resources, technology and among journalists across the LBC, Galaxy and Heart brands that were previously owned by Chrysalis Radio.

Leigh Holmwood of mediaguardian.co.uk also reported that "LBC senior producer Steve Campen, who is currently overseeing former London mayor Ken Livingstone's programme, is set to leave the station after more than 20 years' service."

"Sources have said cuts will also see LBC's rolling AM news channel LBC News 1152 become mostly automated rather than using live presenters."

"One insider said morale was "shocking", with one journalist in the LBC newsroom seen walking around with a target pinned to their back."
