London Christian's are preparing for the final stage of Holy Week, with the Resurrection of Christ taking place in midnight services across the capital tonight.
Orthodox, Catholic and Anglican churches are expected to be packed tonight with services of all the main denominations taking place at the same time. The Orthodox Church leader Patriarch Bartholomew described Easter as the "Resurrection of Christ is indeed real and grants to faithful Christians the certainty - and to all humanity the possibility - of transcending the adverse consequences of natural calamity and spiritual perversity."
Many churches in London are expecting strong turnouts tonight, despite a larger than expected exodus from the capital because of the extended Easter holiday's.
Greek Orthodox Christians traditionally greet the resurrection of Christ with the words CHRISTOS ANESTI or Christ has arisen and have painted red eggs and flaounes.
