For many years British men were mocked around the world for their poor sense of style, not any more!  Esquire the leading men's magazine has launched a competition to find that elusive "stylish British man".

Esquire, in association with Harrods, launches the UK’s first ever hunt for Britain’s Best Dressed Real Man 2010 "from Edinburgh in the North to Brighton in the South, the leading men’s style magazine is calling for the country’s best dressed men to step forward."

Up for grabs are prizes worth more than £20,000, including an entire wardrobe of clothes from Harrods, grooming treatments at the store’s new Gentleman’s Club, a designer watch and a coveted cover shoot for Esquire’s limited-edition October style issue.

Launched in Esquire’s May issue (on sale April 5), the six month campaign encompasses editorial coverage, stylish promotions, a bespoke ‘Best Dressed’ channel on the Esquire website (www.esquire.co.uk), instore events at Harrods, as well as creating a buzz on Twitter and Facebook.

Any man in the country will be invited to nominate himself, or be nominated by friends or family, for the prestigious title of Britain’s Best Dressed Real Man. Esquire and Harrods style-scouts will also be trawling the streets of the UK’s major cities and holding a series of events at Harrods to choose men whose personal style is a cut above the rest.

A panel of Esquire tastemakers, from leading designers to fashion critics to style icons, will judge the competition with the shortlist of the six best dressed men in Britain appearing in the September issue and the ultimate winner appearing on the cover of Esquire’s October issue.

The climax of the nationwide search will be a lavish VIP event at Harrods in September. Esquire will also publish a bound-in supplement in the October issue, featuring style advice for real men, drawing on the magazine’s unsurpassed and award-winning style and grooming expertise.

The search for the UK’s most stylish man has been inspired by the runaway success of US Esquire’s Best Dressed Real Man in America – now into its sixth year.

Esquire Editor Jeremy Langmead says, “As the country’s leading style magazine we are proud to be launching the UK’s first ever search for Britain’s Best Dressed Real Man 2010. This campaign isn’t about celebrity, fashion slavery or even the ability to throw together a look. It’s about identifying an attitude, an emphasis on detail and an innate sense of style that says something about British men and how good they look today.”

For those men who think they have what it takes to be Esquire’s Best Dressed Real Man 2010, or if their partners think they do, go to www.esquire.co.uk for full registration details.
