Tesco Express targeted by JCB digger

In an audacious attempt to rob a Tesco Express in Upminster, a JCB digger was used to break into the store in the early hours of Wednesday.
          

Police were called to Tesco Express in Cranham, Upminster, RM14 on Wednesday, 1 June at approximately 0405hrs following reports of a break in.

Two suspects used a JCB Digger to break into the Tesco Express store causing substantial damage. The suspects made off down Front Lane with a quantity of cash and the store safe which they loaded into a white lorry.

Both suspects are described as male, approximately 6ft tall, wearing high visibility jackets and balaclavas.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and assist them with the investigation. They are also appealing for anyone who may have seen people stealing the JCB Digger from roadworks on the M25 near the junction with the A127 to come forward with any information.
