Arsenal caome from behind to overcome Birmingham at the Emirates and a controversial goal by TOM HUDDLESTONE earns a vital win for TOTTENHAM.
Marouane Chamakh’s brilliant finish inspired Arsenal to come from a goal down and avoid an upset for a third consecutive game. Nikola Zigic put Birmingham ahead after 33 minutes as his towering effort from Keith Fahey's corner beat Lukasz Fabianski to find the bottom corner for his first Premier League goal for the Blues.
The Gunners were back on level terms before halftime when Samir Nasri converted a penalty that Chamakh won when he went down courtesy of Scott Dann's sliding challenge in the box.
But the Morocco international was not done yet, he put Arsene Wenger’s team ahead early in the second half, sliding through the Blues defence after some slick passing from teammates Alex Song and Jack Wilshire. The England under 21 international towards was shown a red card for a very reckless challenge on Zigic, who was in some pain as he limped off the pitch before coming back on to see the end of the game.
Fulham v Spurs 1-2 Tom Huddlestone's controversial strike results in Fulham's first Premier League defeat of the season as Spurs take all three points from Craven Cottage with a 2-1 victory.
Diomansy Kamara tapped home to give the Cottagers the lead on the half-hour mark, but the goal owed everything to Clint Dempsey who showed great strength and awareness to control in the box before finding his team-mate for the goal.
Spurs immediately replied courtesy of Rafael van der Vaart who controlled the ball superbly before chipping Mark Schwarzer from 10 yards out with Roman Pavlyuchenko waiting to tap home the rebound from close range after the ball came back off the bar.
Then controversy occurred when Tom Huddlestone's powerful long-range shot was initially ruled out by the assistant's raised flag for offside against William Gallas, but after consulting with referee Mike Dean, the goal was given.
With this win Arsenal and Tottenham are still both level with 14 points together with Manchester United who dropped two precious points at home to West Bromwich Albion, with champions Chelsea playing later on today against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
