At first glance you would think Chevrolet's Spark is a car designed for Mr Bean, but how wrong can you be, this little baby has the power and style to turn heards.
Chevrolet have done something here that should be looked at by the large car manufacturers, design a car for a demographic that thinks small is cool and has street cred. Yes this is ultimate "street cred" to have a Chevrolet Spark, it even attracted peoples attention at a posh tennis function I attended in Hastings, with the "chelsea tractor" brigade asking me "what is it" and one person commenting "that is a brave design on the car".
Chevrolet describe the as having an "impressive two-tier front grille and angular lines, the new Spark is sure to turn heads wherever it goes. And whilst the Spark may have the looks of a larger car, its actual dimensions of 3.64m by 1.6m make it nimble around town and small enough to squeeze into tight city spaces."
Parking is tremendously easy, and city driving which we have to do by necessity is bread and butter for the Spark which just roars around town, and should be a better bet for those thinking of buying a Mini, here you get a five door car 1.2 litre engine for £9790.
On the motorway again you have no problems, the car zooms on the road, economy is good the 1.0 litre engine produces 68 PS (50 kW) and goes from 0-62 mph in 15.5 seconds. The 1.2 litre produces 81 PS (60 kW) and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 12.1 seconds. Both engines are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Overrall for today’s lean society, which dictates we drive carefully, economise on fuel, and save on congestion and parking charges, the Spark ticks all boxes, and is a winner for style too. If you want to make an impression, and spend less than £10,000 on a car for the town and motorway, definitely consider the Spark.
