The fortunes of Nicholas Levene the well known north London city financier are unknown following the revelations he owes £70 million to investors, and has been declared bankrupt according to various reports.

Also known as "Beano" by his colleagues Nicholas Levene a well respected figure in the capitals Jewish community is thought to have sought refuge in the illegal Turkish regime in northern Cyprus which has no extradition treaty with the UK.  Other reports indicate that Levene is being treated at the north London clinic The Priory in Southgate.

Levene is believed according to reports to owe up to £70 million to various "large figures" in the City following investments in blue-chip firms and Levene failing to give investors money.  

The Daily Mail reported that the owner of Stagecoach Brian Soutar invested £5 million into HSBC and Xstrata through Levene, with Soutar making £18 million from the deal.  No money was paid, according to reports and legal action ensued.

The London Daily News which contacted sources at The Priory in Southgate, was unable to confirm if Levene was being treated at the clinic, with one spokesman confirming:

"We treat many people we never confirm if a person is here to the media".

Nicholas Levene on the MG Partners website of which he is member of the board:
