Described as one of the most "prolific" rapists in British criminal history a man in south London has been arrested and charged with 22 counts; five rapes, six indecent assaults and 11 burglaries, between 1992 and 2009.
Described as the 'Night Stalker' the attacker first started his campaign in 1992 when an 84 year old woman was raped after a break in to her flat were she lived in Croydon.
Reports confirm that the Met police undertook a surveillance operation which began two weeks ago with a man arrested, now known to be Delroy Grant, arrested in Brockley south London.
Three of the victims have since died and sources at the Met believe that there may still be 108 victims, with many afraid to come forward or too ashamed.
The arrest of Delroy Grant underlines how effective the Met Police surveillance and investigation work has been with more than 2,000 DNA samples taken from suspects as part of a seventeen year inquiry costing £102,000.
Delroy Grant is to be charged today at Greenwich Magistrates court of the offences. Related articles: South London's 'Night stalker' strikes again 06 June, 2008 10:59 (GMT +00:00) http://www.thelondondailynews.com/south-london-nightstalker-efit-released-p-766.html
