Soho 'clipping' joints on the way out
Article Video Photos

Police and council officials have closed one of the last notorious 'clipping' joints in Soho.

Officers swooped on the hostess bar on Great Windmill Street in London's adult entertainment centre.

Thousands conned

The racket has conned thousands of people over the years. Lured inside the bars with the promise of sex and adult entertainment, charged ridiculous prices for watered down drinks, they pressurise and intimidate frightened customers to hand over money.

Westminster Council has been working for years to drive the last three clip joints - Twilights in Rupert Street and Illusions and The Soho Cabaret in Great Windmill Street - out of London's west end.

It has been tough to gather evidence of the scams as victims are generally ashamed and embarrassed to have been fleeced by the adult entertainment establishments.
