By John Kaponi The Shard is remarkable for many things, its height, its architecture, its ambition, but it’s the vision of Irvine Sellar the east Ender Spurs fan who later settled in Finsbury Park, to have this amazing spectacle over London that is truly testament to what makes London a leading global capital city.
Irvine Sellar Chairman of Sellar Property Group speaking to The London Daily News at The Shard said: "We have created a new global landmark for London and I think Londoners will adopt this. Anyone can come to this building, you can work here, eat here it all costs money but it is nevertheless open".
With spectacular views looking over London The Shard dwarfs all buildings below and near to it. Tower 42 and other buildings just do not compare to The Shard. Sellar the developers along with architect Renzo Piano in a project worth over £1 billion have rejuvenated the London Bridge area to rival it is hoped the West End in years to come. The next step for the Sellar Property Group is to complete The Shard fully, with a public opening in February 2013 of The View which is a totally unique experience for Londoners to view 40 miles across the city from the top of The Shard. The View is housed in the 68th-72nd floors of the skyscraper some 800ft (244m) above the capital. Over 1 million visitors are expected to visit each year with tickets priced at £24.95 for adults and £18.95 for children. Visit www.the-shard.com
