Ministers and MP's are receiving a rude awakening in their efforts to master the world of social networking. Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband became the latest politician to be caught out by an x-rated 'phising' scam. At one point his Tweet read: "Hey, I've been having better sex and longer with this here” - accompanied by a web address. It was sent to thousands of his followers - after receiving several bemused responses to his statement of sexual prowess he wrote two hours later: "Oh dear it seems like I've fallen victim to Twitter's latest 'phishing' scam." Phishing scams are links that bring you to a fake log in page, prompting the use to re enter their details and then take over the account sending spam, compromising security, or in this case, cause political embarrassment. Yesterday deputy Labour leader Harriet Harman told the Commons her account had been "hacked" and had sent a "bogus" message to shadow prisons minister Alan Duncan. "I've got to get back to him and tell him it wasn't from me - I wouldn't ever send a Tweet like that," Mrs Harman said. Glasgow South MP Tom Harris has made light of the attack sweeping through social media sites. He published a link and a message about a "hot, horny 24-year-old independent journalist looking for a good time" which led to a blog post about receiving inappropriate tweets. MP's have expressed concern at the number of 'fake profiles' that include David Cameron and Lord Mandelson.
