If you dodged the snowfights, avoided yesterdays ice and didn't stick your feet in a puddle of slush don't count your lucky stars just yet - London's streets are full of rubbish. Bin collections have yet to resume after the heaviest snowfall in the city for 18 years - many boroughs will not resume service until ext week. The city was crippled this week as the transport network broke down. While many councils concentrated efforts on gritting the roads, the rubbish has piled up. Last picked up 10 days ago Kensington and Chelsea, Richmond, Westminster and Barking and Dagenham, will start collecting from Wednesday - some refuse was last picked up 10 days ago. Bromley Council and Enfield Council say services may only return to normal by next week. A statement from Enfield Council said: "We are endeavouring to catch up with the backlog of missed collections, subject to prevailing weather conditions, by deploying additional crews across the borough. "Rescheduling would needlessly disrupt the service for thousands more residents." Recycling collections have also been put back a week by many local authorities.
