The Royal Wedding is taking on a decidedly "Greek flavour" with the presence of Archbishop Gregorios the leader of the Greek Orthodox church in the UK, the former King of Greece, Prince Pavlos of Greece, the Duke of Edinburgh (of Greek ancestry) all at the royal nuptials and George Michael providing a song for the wedding.

John Kaponi the editor-in-chief of The London Daily News speaking on BBC London's "Big George show" ahead of the wedding said:

"What I'm interested is how many Greeks will be at the Royal Wedding. You've got the ex-King of Greece, his kids, the Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church Its going to be a Greekfest, it will be a big fat Royal Greek wedding with plate smashing!"

The former king of Greece the godfather to  Prince William will be heading the "Greek contingent" at the wedding followed by the Duke of Edinburgh who is Greek born, followed by His Eminence Archbishop Gregorios the head of the Greek Orthodox Church in the UK.  George Michael who produced a cover of Stevie Wonder’s You and I, and has been "serenading" the royal couple with speculation that he may be singing at the reception.

"This will be a unique time for all Londoners, but I am sure Greek-Londoners like me will be especially proud to see so many Greeks at the wedding", commented John Kaponi.
