-  City Airport closed after 12:40pm
-  Gatwick Airport - closed

Travel Desk

Travel in London has been severely affected by the heavy snow, with main airports Heathrow cancelling all British Airways flights, Gatwick has closed its runway and City Airport has closed.  Train travel is also experiencing service disruption on South West Trains, Southeastern, Southern, London Midland and First Capital. Tube travel in London is generally running well, with all lines experiencing a "good service" apart from:

Bakerloo:  Suspended
Central:   Part suspended
Docklands Light Railway - Part closure
Overground:  Part suspended

Heathrow is open and both runways are clear. However due to the adverse weather there are a number of cancellations and  delays. British Airways has cancelled all flights between 10:00 and 17:00 today (Saturday 18 December).

Please check the flight status with your airline before travelling to the airport and allow extra time for your journey as the road and rail networks may be affected.

Gatwick's runway is currently closed due to heavy snow, with no departing or arriving flights. The runway will remain closed until 15:00 today (Saturday 18 December) at the earliest. We are expecting further significant snowfall for much of the day.

British Airways has cancelled all domestic and European flights between 10.00 and 17.00.

There are also delays and cancellations across Europe, with airports including Amsterdam, Geneva, Munich and Copenhagen among those disrupted.

Our advice to passengers is to check with their airline before setting out for the airport.

Bus travel in London is running with some disruptions with many Christmas shoppers choosing to go by tube to central London to avoid the icy roads.
