Rising costs of the Olympics

The "mainstream" media are now reporting that the propaganda from LOCOG that the London Olympics would be completed within budget, has be proven to be as big a white elephant as the stadium that will be sitting gathering dust after this summers Olympics.

We are less than 5 months away from the start of the London Olympics, shall we start facing facts?  Londoners simply do not give a damn about the "Games".  They are as enthralled by the Olympics as your average Joe the Plumber in the United States during the Atlanta Games in 1992, it means nothing here in London.   The cost?  Over £11 billion and rising ladies and gentlemen, all we need now is some lunatic to cause a security alert before the Games and that £2 billion in security costs will spiral.

In terms of legacy, with a meagre 109,000 more people taking up sports during the period London won the competition to host the 2012 Games, and unclear plans of what is to happen to the Olympic Stadium, we are going to have a massive hangover in September, when the "Olympic honeymoon" is over.

And lets get down to this thorny issue, which until now has either been ignored or not spoken of enough.  London transport is no way going to deal with the expected million plus tourists that are likely to flock to London to watch the Olympics.  This idea that Londoners have to leave their city to make it easier for tourists is absolute baloney!  Why should Londoners, who are being squeezed lets not forget financially, have to leave their work, and even homes so that some tourist from who knows where can travel easier on the tube.  Has anyone seen what happens on the tube system at around 9am each day in London?  The roads in central London?

Moreover, Londoners better prepare for one of the most expensive, most painful 10 weeks in our city's history. We will be breaking records but not on the track, the records will be all in red, on our bank statements.
