There has been a 40% rise in the number of London teens admitted to hospital for alcohol injuries.

Nearly 1,300 under-15’s were treated in 2007 - up from 9225 in 2002, according to the NHS.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families is currently consulting parents about the best way to tackle the issue.

Real stats "much worst"

Some ambulance staff working on the front line of alcohol abuse think the real statistics are much worse than those being reported.

Official government advice is if young people do decide to drink under age, the safest age is 15 - it does however stipulate that they are supervised by an adult.
