Boris Johnson is officially the new Mayor of London, thelondondailynews.com along with YouGov got the election outcome correct.

Our correspondents from City Hall at the official declaration reported that the heavily policed event generally passed without incident, with gracious words given to Ken Livingstone from Boris Johnson, for being a great servant for London.

Despite the smear tactics of the left wing press about the Boris campaign, the prevalent feeling that Ken was tired and Labour policies largely a failure for London came to the fore.

The Evening Standard Andrew Gilligan investigative reporting of the Lee Jasper scandal was one of the most significant sticks on Livingstones back, added with the continual campaigning of the Evening Standard against Ken.

Moreover the truth prevailed, and Ken and his cronies are out. The largely over hyped ethnic vote failed in most parts of the capital to play decisive factor, it was the suburbs that won the election for Boris, who are largely white and middle class.

The final votes:

Boris Johnson - The Conservative candidate won with 1,168,738 first and second preference votes,
compared with Ken Livingstone's 1,028,966.
