That was the question running through singer Boy George's head today before he was sentenced to 15 months in jail for false imprisonment. Snaresbrook Crown court heard how the former Culture Club man handcuffed and beat a male escort with a chain after as he tried to escape his Shoreditch flat. The defence said George had hit rock bottom and the incident occurred because the two were acting like two drug fuelled idiots. Norwegian victim Audun Carlsen, 29, said: "I think he couldn't handle the refusal - me not having sex with him." Computer hack
The musician, tried under his real name George O'Dowd, accused Carlsen of hacking into his laptop and stole photographs and denied the charge.
He refused to testify, leaving the jury to draw their own conclusions. O'Dowd told police he handcuffed Carlsen to his bed on April 28 last year while he investigated the alleged tampering of his computer. Carlsen told the court that O'Dowd made up the computer story so he could punish him for not having sex. New York sentence
O'Dowd has had brushes with the law in the past - in August 2006 he scrubbed the streets after he carried out a week of community service and underwent drug rehabilitation treatment in New York for wasting police time after filming a false police report of burglary that never happened. In that case a drug possession charge was dropped.
