"I am calling for genuine change" Entertainment News George Weiss aka "Rainbow George" in an interview with thelondondailynews.com on 30 October 2024 said that Russell Brand would "lead a revolution; Russell has a part to play to change this world". The words of this great Hampstead stalwart seem to be coming true with Russell Brand now well and truly in the "A-list" category of Hollywood celebrities, and now potentially making a "b-line" for a place in the world of politics. Last week Russell Brand was the guest editor of The New Statesman magazine, the leading magazine for the left wing in the UK.
Russell Brand has set the political world alight with a recent interview Jeremy Paxman on BBC2 this week and told Jeremy Paxman the reason why he never voted was "out of absolute indifference, weariness at the lies, treachery of the political class and I am not represented by this political class, and voting for it is tacit complicte." Showing adept political analysis of the current apathy towards politicians, Brand retorts to Paxman and says "Jeremy my darling the apathy is not from us the people, but from the politicians who are apathetic towards our needs and are only interested in the needs of corporations."
In 2008 Rainbow George wanted Russell Brand to stand for Mayor of London, an idea that was ridiculed at the time. Brands's candidacy in 2016 would now be taken far more seriously given his rising kudos in the US and across the world.
