By "Rainbow" George Weiss "So here we are on the magic mountain" announced Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood as he spoke to me and two film cameras soon after his mercurial switching on of our Christmas village lights.
Prior to the cameras starting to roll we had shared some 'Rainbow Connection' memories of Peter Cook and Ian Dury, who too saw Hampstead as the 'Magic Mountain'.
I also briefly told him about the 'Scoring Goals' movie that I am involved in producing and expressed my hope that Russell Brand would be playing the starring role in it as 'The Wizard Of Wonders' accompanied by a twelve man band... The Revolutionary Souls Army - who 'Sing and play the things that the Wizard has to say' - he seemed to like the sound of it all.
Anyway, here we now were - our conversation being recorded and me recalling how Ronnie, Keith Richards and I had, in the dawning hour of a 1993 September morning - been the last to leave what had been a much celebrated celebrity party at Peter's Perrin's Walk home. Peter, 'The Wizard Of What', had followed us up the cobbled mews filming our steps towards a waiting coach containing some sleepy minders, friends and family on Fitzjohn’s avenue. Peter's widow, Lin, has that footage and Ronnie agreed that it would be wonderful were she to show it on Youtube, as it marks the moment that ended a day, and a party, that had seen Peter at his happiest and brilliant best.
I first encountered Ian Dury at that party - the day that the 'Derek And Clive Get The Horn' video had at long last been released to the community at large. He had just moved in to his mother’s garden flat on Fitzjohn’s avenue while she was being looked after in a Swiss Cottage care home.
Due to my neighbourly status with Peter, this 'rough diamond geezer' became a precious pal, and Ronnie and Keith acquaintances to value.
So here I now am supposing Peter and Ian 'watching' us from some heavenly vantage point as I'm chatting to Ronnie and being filmed floating the notion that were they to record a version of the ‘Scoring Goals’ song in time - He, Keith and Russell could be genuine contenders for the Christmas number one slot.
Optimistic as I am usually wont to be, I appreciate that this will probably prove yet another dream too far. However, with its epicentre on the 'Magic Mountain', a musicomedy inspired revolution has been set in motion - The band wagon is rolling and you may follow its progress on www.scoringgoals.net and view my pitch to Ronnie and more that is relevant besides on our youtube channel at www.youtube.com/rainbowpeople.
These are truly momentous times here on the 'Magic Mountain' as you are about to discover.
