IT may have been over a decade since the Firestarters produced the infamous classic which turned them into a global phenomenon overnight, but The Prodigy proved last night they can still raise the roof when required.

Creatively, there has been little of note over the past few years, but the band's live shows have continued to stay strong, with electrifying performances and dynamically charged visuals ensuring their reputation for cool remains untarnished, Wembley proving to be no exception.

Glow-stick waving fans were already fully charged after watching Dizzee Rascal rap his way through hits including ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’ and ‘Dance Wiv Me’, before Prodigy frontmen MC Maxim and Keith Flint took over to the delight of an insanely hyped crowd.

The piercings, tattoos and make-up were as heavy as usual, but fans were treated to a diverse mixture of old and new, with classics such as ‘Breathe’, ‘Voodoo People’ and ‘Firestarter’ blended with tracks from their new album, ‘Invaders Must Die’, reminiscent of their 1990s electro punk peak with big beats in abundance.

There was no doubt the performance had a harder, sharper edge than before, with Flint oozing hunger and striking fear with trademark taunts, which is guaranteed to delight fans waiting for them to attack this year's festivals.
