Police van runs over woman in Tottenham

A woman was left with serious head injuries after a being struck by a police van in Tottenham.

The 22-year-old was injured at the junction of Lansdowne Road and High Road, just after 3pm yesterday.


Responding to emergency

Scotland Yard says the van had been responding to an emergency call at the time.

Officials from the Collision Investigation Unit are studying the incident.

Two fast response cars and two ambulance crews were sent to the scene - the woman was treated at the scene and rushed to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

The area was closed off and traffic diverted to White Hart Lane.

The police van's male driver and female passenger were treated for shock.
