Crime Desk Flying Squad police officers are facing an investigation into the handling of a "pre-planned" armed operation in Eltham in which a man was shot. A taser was also used during the operation, in which the Met Police describe the condition of the man who was shot as "non-critical".
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is independently investigating after a man was shot by police this morning, Monday 13 December 2010.
At approximately 7am, officers from the Metropolitan Police Service were taking part in a pre-planned operation in the Eltham area of South East London.
During the operation, an Armed Response Vehicle approached a car containing three men. As they approached the car, one officer fired a shot and the bullet hit one of the men.
IPCC Commissioner Mike Franklin, said: “IPCC investigators are currently at the scene of this incident and are working to gather information from CCTV, house to house enquiries and police logs as well as collecting initial accounts from the officers involved.
