Traffic officers are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian died following a collision with a bus in central London.

On Saturday, 14 January, at approx 1725hrs a Route 390 bus was in collision with a 61-year-old lady using a pedestrian crossing on Tottenham Court Road outside the Grafton Hotel.

The pedestrian was taken to St Mary's Hospital, Paddington suffering from serious head injuries. She remained in a critical condition until Saturday, 28 January, when she died. Next of kin have been informed.

An inquest will be opened in due course. Officers are yet to establish whether all next of kin have been informed of the death.

Officers from the Road Death Investigation Unit at Alperton Traffic Garage are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

DS Stephen Pidgeon said: "The collision happened close to Warren Street Tube Station at a busy time of day. There may be many people who saw the collision but did not realise how serious it was and I would encourage them to contact us so that we can establish the exact circumstances of this lady's death."

Any witnesses or anyone with any information that could assist police should call officers on 020 8998 5319.

The driver of the bus stopped at the scene, he was not arrested.
