Playing the Card

It really is odd reading a article about a letter printed in the Guardian by the Labour GLA group plus one of the Green Party complaining that Mayor Boris Johnson's team is too "white"!

Maybe this group of politician's could have taken the time to forgive Ray Lewis for any past mistake's and stood by a man who it would appear all agree is running a programme which is turning young people's lives around?

Maybe this same group of politician's should realise that 1.1 million Londoners voted for Boris Johnson and not their preferred candidate. Fact, that is the second biggest mandate for a directly elected politician in Western Europe ( How do I know that, well a political journo at the bbc used to say that about Ken Livingstone when he was Mayor ). Defeat is hard to accept but maybe some politician's need to understand you can't take the voter for granted, you can't believe that only your way is right in fact you might get it wrong.

It is a real shame that well educated politician's do not understand that Londoners were sick and tired of Ken Livingstone and all that he stood for, that is why people voted to "Back Boris", yes ordinary hard working people went out and voted because the left wing elite thought the suburbs didn't matter.

But the real shame of this story is Boris does have people from ethic backgrounds within his team, his advisors on Art and Transport to name two. So in a game of cards always keep your Ace up your sleeve and use it wisely, but to play a race card is just disgraceful and smack's of desperation and a party in electoral free fall. Maybe the Labour group at the GLA should spend less time "playing the card" and take more notice of the poll's.
