A deranged love reject who stabbed a college receptionist to death in a phantom of the opera costume, has pled guilty to manslaughter.

Rafi Ullah, 29, knifed 23-year-old receptionist Sehrish Waqar Sheikh in her chest and neck in the offices of St George's language collage in Plaistow on Baalam Street 22 September.

She had 65 stab wounds.

According to friends, Miss Sheikh from Dagenham, was due to marry her boyfriend in Dubai in January.

Her killer has now been sent to a mental hospital indefinitely after pleading guilty at the Old Bailey to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Slit his own throat

Nearly 40 cops surged into the building and arrested Ullah who had slashed his own throat. It was thought the man had been scouring the building the past few days and then deliberately sought out his victim.

Her colleague and best friend, Kiran Asghar, 21, was stabbed in the shoulder but managed to escape the bloody scene and raise the alarm.

Psychotic depression

Ullah, a Pakistani who came to Britain on a student visa in 2006 became obsessed with Miss Sheikh and decided she must die after she rejected him, the court had heard.

The court was also told he suffered from long-term psychotic depression during the incident.
