Pete Doherty released early

There have been raised eyebrows this afternoon as it emerged junkie rocker Pete Doherty will be released on Tuesday - just 29 days into a 14 week sentence.

Doherty was at Wormwood Scrubs serving a sentence for failing to follow court ordered drug tests. It's emerged he will be freed in the scheme to ease overcrowding.

His sentence will be halved and 18 days deducted despite reportedly being caught smoking heroin while in the detox unit of the jail.

Plans to celebrate

The drug user is apparently planning on playing a show, then "getting smashed."

A sell out show at the Royal Albert Hall had to be cancelled in April as he was locked up. His band, Babyshambles will play Glastonbury this summer.

A fierce critic of the former Libertine and his lifestyle, Ann Widdecombe MP said:

"Nobody should be released that early."
