Peckham residents are describing their treatment by police as that similar to "cattle", with residents criticising the "chaos" surrounding the scene of the fire.

Live on Sky News Peckham residents were quick to criticise the chaotic nature of the evacuation of homes with one resident saying that "no lessons were learnt" from the last major fire in the area.

To date there have been no major injuries, Harriet Harman MP for Peckham paid tribute to the London Fire Brigade for evacuating local residents.

Focus is now on re-housing the people whose homes have been damaged by the fire in Peckham, the local MP has said that how "shocked" she was at the scale of the fire and that people in this part of London were now with no shoes or clothes.

Reports on BBC London have indicated that people heard "explosions" and that the speed of the fire and devastation was something not seen in a long time in London.
