"No path to victory" - McCain aides all but give up hope

Republicans all but give up hope of regaining the White House with senior McCain aides giving up all hope in the race to the White House

Republicans are informally giving up hope of victory with 202 of electoral votes to Barack Obama and John McCain with only 80 votes, with two senior McCain aides giving up all hopes of a surge to win the election.

The Democrats are winning traditional Republic constituencies like Ohio with 52.2 per cent of the vote going to Barack Obama.

The Democrats are close to announcing victory with only 70 more electoral votes required.
