Brave London side Chelsea lost 6-5 on penalties in the cruelest of fashions, with the clubs captain John Terry missing a decisive penalty after extra time.

Avram Grant the clubs manager said on his team "Chelsea will always be in finals I am so proud of my team".

In wet and very tough conditions Chelsea were brave and took the game to Manchester United who controlled much of the first half.

Chelsea fans who travelled to Moscow will be very disappointed at the result and not winning anything this season, fuelling speculation that Roman Abramovich will replace Grant as manager and make him director of football.

One Chelsea fan Matthew Ardens who lives in Fulham said "I am so gutted, so sad for the team, but I am proud of the performance".
