The Olympic Delivery Authority today released new aerial images showing the transformation of the Olympic Park for the London 2012 Games and legacy, with the construction of the permanent venues nearing completion and parklands taking shape. The new images are released on the eve of Team GB cyclists taking to the Velodrome track for the first time to mark the completion of construction of the venue. The Velodrome will now be handed over to the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) for the installation of Games overlay to prepare for test events. The Olympic Park 'big build' is now nearly 80 per cent complete and themain venues on track to be completed this summer - a year before the Games.
ODA Chairman John Armitt, said: "The 'big build' of the main Olympic Park venues is on track to complete this summer as planned, ready for test events ahead of the Games. These new images show the transformation of a former industrial area into a great new park with world-class sports venues and a new network of roads, bridges and infrastructure built for the Games and legacy."
Tickets for the Olympics are expected to go on the market from March, with record demand expected for all venues.
