Olympics Desk A major victory for current Mayor Johnson has been confirmed today following the decision by the organisers of the Olympic Games in London than an agreement, in principle, for the world rhythmic gymnastics and badminton 2012 events to be held at Wembley Arena. The agreement will be put by the respective sports federations to their members in the next few weeks and confirmation is expected in early in 2010. The Mayor said: "I am pleased and thank the two federations for understanding our concerns to save money wherever we can in these tough economic times. I am confident that Seb and his team will ensure that every athlete competing at Wembley in 2012 will not only have a great venue, but all the facilities they need, right on the doorstep, to help them go for gold." This decision has been one of Mayor Johnson's pre-election commitments to try and use existing venues in the capital for Olympic events in an attempt to reduce the overrall costs of the 2012 Games.
