News Desk - 10:30am Matthew Offord the popular Conservative local politician has defeated Andrew Dismore in Hendon, in a very tight race, with only 106 vote’s separating the two candidates.
The London Daily News publicly endorsed Matthew Offord and has supported the Conservatives in Hendon to remove Dismore, who was embroiled in an expenses scandal over trips to Cyprus.
Speaking to The London Daily News Matthew Offord Member of Parliament for Hendon said: "After a long night and 3 recounts, Hendon after 13 years has returned a Conservative MP, I look forward to work with all the people of Hendon, to safeguard the interests of my constituency in tough times ahead".
The exact numbers of the votes will be published when available.
The Barnet Conservatives are celebrating a clean sweep, with Theresa Villiers regaining Chipping Barnet, Mike Freer winning Finchley Golders Green; in contrast to neighbours Enfield who have seen the Conservatives lose control of the council and fail to make any inroads in Edmonton, gaining Enfield north and holding Enfield Southgate.
