Oddy appointment "good for trade"
Article Video Photos

by John Kennedy

What a year, a new Mayor of London, and the fantastic news that Bob Oddy of the LTDA has been appointed to the board of Transport for London.

In my opinion this is further proof that the new Mayor Boris Johnson wishes to work closely with the London Taxi trade, I am also sure Bob Oddy who has campaigned on issues of touting, the banning of rickshaws and successfully negotiated a night rate for the taxi trade will ensure the concerns of this trade are raised at board level.

Congratulations to Bob Oddy and well done to Mayor Boris Johnson and his team for making this appointment.

London Daily News extends the congratulations to Bob Oddy and the LTDA.

Unfortunately, I do not think Mr Oddy is the right man for the job. The trade has been calling out for many years for a leader to emerge and take on the PCO and TFL. Mr Oddy has been perfectly placed to do this but chose not to. I believe that this appointment was a reward from the powers that be for years of silence and not rocking the boat.
