NEWS DESK - BREAKING NEWS

The leading African activist Toyin Agbetu has been arrested at the Notting Hill Carnival following a dispute it is alleged with the float of BBC 1 Xtra and its apparent refusal to obey a 3 minute silence in memory of the African slaves who died over the centuries at the hands of Europeans.

The 3 minute silence was obeyed according to sources contacted by the London Daily News by all floats apart from the BBC 1 Xtra float. The situation deteriorated when Agbetu was apparently approached by security with BBC 1 Xtra and then the police it is alleged arrested Agbetu.

Also incidents in Ladbroke Grove involving serious violence and fights caused the Police to install a blockade around the area with members of the public caught up.  Riot police were sent in with sight of territorial support officers involved to calm the violence.  A police officer also sustained a serious facial injury in the events.  Carnivaliers alleged the police were heavy handed and that stop and search by the police had increased.
