A UNIQUE CELEBRATION IN AID OF THE PRS FOR MUSIC MEMBERS BENEVOLENT FUND

Ronnie Wood:

“OOH LA LA, what a fantastic invitation for us to be a part of your 75th Anniversary Show at The Royal Albert Hall. This will be so special for us, staging a reunion for such a wonderful and prestigious event."

THE FACES were one of the best loved, most influential, British bands ever. They evolved from the Small Faces in 1969 after Stevie Marriott left to form Humble Pie. They comprised a collection of stellar musicians and had a unique chemistry that meant the sum was always greater than the parts.

The line-up read Ronnie Wood (guitar), Kenney Jones (drums/percussion), Ian McLagan (keyboards), Ronnie Lane (bass) and Rod Stewart (lead vocals).

Now after 37 years the band are reforming for one glorious night to help a cause very dear to their hearts – the PRS for Music Members Benevolent Fund.

Indeed this fund still helps Katy Lane, former wife of Ronnie Lane who died of MS in 1997.   .

Unfortunately Rod Stewart won’t be able to be there as he will be out of the country on October 25th. However the missing members, Ronnie and Rod, will be replaced for the night by old friend Bill Wyman on bass and, by special invitation, a selection of very special vocalists.

When The Faces parted ways in 1975 each member went on to pursue their own illustrious career. Ronnie Wood has been a Rolling Stone (and a hugely successful artist) for over 30 years. Kenney Jones  replaced Keith Moon in the Who and now has his own band, the Jones Gang. Ian McLagan formed the Bump Band and also played with various artists including Bob Dylan. Ronnie Lane formed Slim Chance and Rod Stewart pursued his highly successful solo path.

“Helping the Heart Of Music”, a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the PRS for Music Members Benevolent Fund , takes place at the Royal Albert Hall on October 25th.  Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings provide backing throughout the show and the line-up reads as follows:

Jan Akkerman, Melanie C, Paul Carrack, Kiki Dee, Chris Difford, Andy Fairweather Low, Georgie Fame,  Mick Hucknall, Mark King and Mike Lindup (Level 42), Lee Mead, Mark Read, Martin Taylor, The Faces, Rick Wakeman, Bill Wyman, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings and Special Guests.

In addition to the concert there is also an online charity auction with a host of fabulous prizes up for grabs. These include a rally car, two tickets to the Ivor Novello Awards and a signed Gibson and Les Paul guitar - all details on www.helpingtheheartofmusic.com.

The PRS for Music members Benevolent Fund is a registered charity which helps and supports musicians, songwriters, composers and their dependents, wherever they are, by awarding grants or loans. It offers a lifeline in times of financial stress and, in doing so, reinforces a very real and much needed sense of community. With the rapid growth of the music industry it is anticipated that in the coming decades the fund will prove particularly vital for many.

Among those who have in the past publicly acknowledged the financial help received from the
Fund have been bassist Danny Thompson, Mike Smith of the Dave Clark Five, singer Clifford T. Ward, Michael Coleman (co-wroter “Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats And Dogs”) and “Move It” writer Ian Samwell who became ill in the States - the fund helped with his health care
requirements.
