Playing to a packed Bull & Gate in Kentish Town "post-punk" bank "Mothers Ruin" launched their new CD with the four-some sending a message to music industry executives who attended, that there is more to music that the X-Factor.
Mother's Ruin whose sound is a dramatic vocal style, with punchy post-punk riffs, and sweeping soundscapes.
Fresh out of the studio with Bloc Party and Editors engineer Darren Lawson, they'll be showcasing the fruits of their labour at The Bull & Gate last night giving away a free CD to all gig-goers. The band consisting of Duncan Buxton, Tom O'Hara, Dino Sofos and Kiran Stacey formed in 2009 but were locked away for months in their practice room in Finsbury park before they started playing live.
Commenting on the live performance John Kaponi the editor of The London Daily News said:
"The lads have hot the x-factor, the tunes are sharp, the look is eighties but the sound is something from the future, I am a fan. The guys remind me Franz Ferdinand or Interpol and have an eighties post punk sound".
The band will be playing 93 Feet East on Saturday 18th June and the Tramlines Festival in Sheffield on Saturday 23rd July.
