More mayhem in Croydon - man beaten to death - 'son' held over double murder

There was more mayhem in South London last night after a man was beaten to death in West Croydon.

Yesterday afternoon, just a few miles away a couple were found stabbed to death at their home in South Croydon and a man belived to be their son was arrested at the crime scene.

Police launched the latest murder inquiry after the man in his thirties was found on Euston Road with serious head and torso injures around 8pm.

He was taken to hospital but died 40 minutes later -  police believe they know the identity of the victim and the next of kin have been informed.

Homicide and Serious Crime Command are heading the investigation.


'Son' arrested in couple murder - neigbour saw 'blood on hands'

Meanwhile a 34-year-old man, beleived to be their son, Daniel, is being quizzed by detectives after the murder of Barry Dighton, 61, and his wife Elizabeth, 60.

Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the suspect.

The couple, who had been married for 40 years, were discovered after a disturbance in a quiet street in south Croydon.

Police had been called to reports of a disturbance at the first floor maisonette on Campden Road, South Croydon, on Wednesday 12.20pm - the suspect was arrested at the crime scene.

A neighbour is said to have seen the suspect and that "he had blood on his hands and feet and he was trembling."
